First of all, what is Personal Branding?
We are all familiar with the concept of branding; in sports we know the Nike Swoosh, the Olympic Rings and even the Sport England logo. The strong visual branding behind these companies and organisations ensures they are well identifiable to consumers with little effort or explanation.
There was a time when a strong logo and visual identity would have sufficed, but with social media transforming the business world and consumer attention; businesses and organisations have had to step up and create more relatable and personable identities in order to stand out.
Why is Personal Branding so important?
Personal branding goes hand in hand with competition and with so many brands now online, the competition is becoming fiercer than ever. Consumers are highly intelligent, and with plenty of options to choose from they want transparency, direct messaging and engagement from companies and organisations.
A strong personal brand has strong values. The most important brands in the world make us feel something. They do that because they have something they want to change. And as customers and consumers, we want to be part of that change!
“My approach to all my work and who I work with, is founded
on my core values of authenticity, integrity, purpose, and
people. I place the needs of individuals and communities at
the heart of my thinking, and I always strive to be consistent
in my principles and true to my values.”

How I am building my own Personal Brand.
I have been building my consultancy business since 2018, specialising in strategy development, coaching and growth in the youth and grassroots sport sectors. And some of the best work I have done is when I have immersed myself in the organisation's day-to-day. I do this to ensure I fully understand the needs of the organisation, with the intention to take leaders and teams with me on the journey. I ask the questions that get lost in the day-to-day details, such as Why do you exist? What difference are you trying to make? What does success look like for you? It's only going through processes like this that give people, teams and the organisation as a whole the opportunity to stop, review, reflect - and go again!
Recently I have been executing a similar process internally, turning my attention and focus to me as a consultant; transforming my knowledge into an inviting and collaborative personal brand, where I speak more openly about the work I am doing online. You will have hopefully noticed my website’s new look and feel, my appearance on social media, my Inside Scoop Mini-Series as well as the monthly blog posts! As always, my values are at the heart of everything I do, and my intention is for this to shine through my brand to reach a broader audience.
I want to be that brand that people fall in love with. The one that doesn't just do great work, but makes great changes too.
