September Inside Scoop

Brighton & Hove World Cup Rugby weekend

We kicked off the month on the south coast, cheering on the Red Roses, watching the Black Ferns take on Ireland, and joining an inspiring WWRC Leadership Brunch focused on putting women at the heart of sport’s future. From boardrooms to stadiums, the message was clear: the legacy of this World Cup is about making sure women are part of decision-making and leadership at every level. Big thank you to Jenny Mitton for the invite!

Nicky’s Thought Leadership Posts

From legacy in community sport to why systems need to serve girls better, Nicky’s weekly posts continue to challenge the sector to think deeper, act bolder, and invest smarter. Catch up on her latest reflections over on her LinkedIn account, Nicky Affleck.

Collective Thought Leadership: October kick-off

This autumn, we’re handing the mic to the Collective. From October, our consultants will share monthly, practical pieces on the big questions shaping our sector — grounded in real delivery, not theory.
First up: Lizzie Stanton and Vicky Lowe on Community Development — what good looks like, how to start well, keep people involved, and build momentum that lasts at a local level.

Affleck & Co. Collective Team Development Day

We brought the Collective together in person for the first time to take stock of a fast-paced first 12 months and shape what’s next — for us as a team, a Collective, and the movement we’re part of. We left with clearer roles, tighter ways of working, and a shared set of priorities for year two. Quietly significant, and exactly what we needed.

Affleck & Co.’s first birthday

We marked our first birthday at Movember HQ with an evening of reflection, laughter, and connection. From bingo icebreakers to unscripted Q&As and panels, it was a true celebration of the people and partnerships that have shaped our first year, and an exciting look at what’s next.
The Sweaty Betty Foundation Panel Talk

Nicky hosted the Sweaty Betty Foundation’s Change Starts Here strategy launch, bringing together a small, curated group to reflect on impact so far and explore what’s next. A reminder that collaboration is key to building a world where moving every day is normal for all girls. A big thank you to the team and everyone who came along!

As always, we’re here to collaborate, challenge, and build with purpose. Here’s to carrying this energy into the rest of the year, and to everything we’ll create together in year two.
